Very interesting programme.
My comments/observations on the Cyprus problem are:
Probably 2 or 3 generations have lived in their settlement areas for nearly 40 years. I wonder if they really want to to return to their grandparents regions.

I ask the questions; how many people died between 1963 and the Intervention?
How many people died during the Intervention?
How many people have died since the Intervention?
How many people in our World have died in the last 3 years by acts of nature?

Finally, why cannot we just forget the past and just love our neighbours. Forget power and greed. Here I am a Brit. We have no hatred for the German or the Japanese because of the atrocities in the 2nd World war era.
So shake hands, look each other in the eyes and smile truly.

Spent three days in area and two full days visiting the park and memorials were not enough. Should have had a third. Used dardanel troy Cannakale as a base and left car at Kilitbahir. Our visit was focussed on the British landings in the Cape Hellas area and Morto Bay as well as Gully Ravine. There was more than enough to see with British, French and Turkish sites. It is a must to read up on the Gallipoli campaign before you go. Pretty spectacular and difficult terrain was dwarfed by a second visiting Suvla and Anzac areas. Spectacularly beautiful and daunting/terrible for those who fought there. September is a quiet time for a visit with good weather although very dry. Well worth the visit.

A similar debate raged over the obelisks at Axum in Ethiopia the Italians had taken away but had the courtesy to return them. Jarra Haile Miriams'words are moving and revealing in this subject!
