Reeves International has been engaged by the Solomon Islands Ministry of Education and Human Resources Department (MEHRD) to design and construct twenty primary school libraries within the Honiara city district. The libraries are the first of their type to be introduced by MEHRD to primary schools in the Solomon Islands, providing students with ready access to books and a dedicated space in which to read them. The twenty libraries took 10 months to construct after an initial two-month design and procurement phase. The project was designed to meet cyclone and earthquake codes as a risk mitigation strategy. The Ministry of Education has now appointed Reeves International to provide documentation so this design can be used as standard on future library projects throughout the Solomon Islands.
